The House of St John’s was originally designed by Victorian architect Edward Blore, best known for his contributions to the design of Buckingham Palace. Commissioned by Derwent Coleridge, the son of the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge, it was completed in 1841 as the Chapel of the College of St Mark, before later serving as a 15,000 square foot office.
The building has since been refurbished for developer Tenhurst, transforming the historic chapel into two luxury homes. The original vaulted lobby of St Mark’s House leads into an incredible triple height atrium at the heart of the home, with the hall guiding one to the original vestry of the church, now converted into a reception room that retains the spatial qualities of its original configuration.
